Dispatcher 5.1.1 with CodeSite 4.2.0

Postby jkottas » Fri Dec 21, 2012 12:23 pm

I read in the What's New document that the new Dispatcher would accept CodeSite 4 messages and turn them into CodeSite 5 log files. Unfortunately I don't believe that is the case, as my .NET applications using CodeSite 4.2.0 and CSDispatcher 5.1.1 are not playing nice together. The Dispatcher throws up many many "Out of Memory" dialog boxes and doesn't create any log files.
4.2-->4.2 and 5.1-->5.1 are working as expected.

This isn't mission critical, but I was planning on using this feature for developing CS4 and CS5 projects on the same workstation.

I would strongly recommend that you upgrade to the latest build of CodeSite 4 (build 4.6.2). There were a lot of builds between 4.2 and 4.6.2 and there were some specific .NET related modifications.

Also, why do you need to continue to use CodeSite 4?

Thanks for your reply.
I need to develop on both 4.2 and 5.1 because we've got a few hundred legacy machines out in the field which are able to take a small library update but we can't very easily get CodeSite 5 installed, so it would be preferable to just fork the code for those people. If we can't it's no big deal. We'll just live with it.
Thanks again.
