Raize Components and Delphi XE2.

Postby SteveG » Thu Aug 11, 2011 4:38 pm

Hi Ray,

I attended the Embarcadero RAD Studio XE2 Worl Tour in Sydney, Australia a couple of days ago. It was amazing stuff and it's really great to see Embarcadero putting so much work into Delphi.

Which brings me to my question. As a long time user of Raize Components, I was wondering are there any plans to bring out FireMonkey versions of your components, or will you continue with VCL only?

If there are commercial reasons why you would prefer not to answer this at this stage, I will understand.

Thanks.

Regards,

Hi,

FireMonkey and the VCL are similar on the surface, but they are quite different under the hood. With that said, Raize Components is very tightly tied to the VCL and will remain based on the VCL moving forward. However, we are also investigating which controls and features from Raize Components would make sense over in FireMonkey.

Sounds good. Thanks.

Hi Ray -

Is there any ETA for RC 5.5 to add support for Delphi XE2?

Thanks,

Alan

We will be releasing Raize Components 6 in the next couple of weeks that will support for XE2 (including 64-bit and VCL Styles). I'll post more details about the new version next week while I am DelphiLive.

Hi Ray,

Will RC5 work with XE2 for 32 bit apps, or is RC6 required for this as well?

Hi Steve,

Certain controls may work just fine in XE2 if you were to compile the RC5 source code. However, this is not true for all controls. Furthermore, the RC5 code base will not handle the new VCL Styles functionality. For development in XE2, RC6 is definitely the recommended approach.
